Pour un temps de méditation is a relatively short piece for clarinet and piano. The idea behind the piece is to try to reach a state of inner silence and absolute contemplation, even though this proves to be a complex journey.

The piece is built around a rocking motion in the piano, alternating a short note with a long note, symbolizing the heartbeat, while the clarinet states a slow and uninterrupted theme. A second motif then appears in bar 44, consisting of three quarter notes, a dotted quarter note, and three eighth notes.

This motif gradually leads to an acceleration of the music, first towards a slow waltz and then towards a musical language tinged with French Expressionism. The journey remains one of meditation, but the feeling becomes increasingly urgent, leading to a climax built around a pedal note and a genuine explosion of the first theme, accompanied by a few rapid, virtuosic passages for the clarinet
