"When I composed Scherzo Furioso, I knew I had the privilege of having Claude Delangle and Branford Marsalis as soloists. The idea of blending elements of classical music with those of jazz then came to me quite naturally.

I wanted the piece to unfold as a single continuous block, like a burst of energy, moving freely from one style to another while fully reflecting my musical tastes: virtuosity, jazz colors inspired by the 1980s, and a complete lack of fear of direct expression or even a certain sense of deliberately embraced kitsch. Above all, I sought an overwhelming energy from the very beginning to the very end of the work.

The word Scherzo imposed itself naturally, while the adjective Furioso reinforced the urgent and incandescent character of the composition."
