This piece was composed to commemorate the centenary of the Great War. I did not wish to write a virtuosic or demonstrative work, but rather to suspend time and invite contemplation and meditation.

In the face of the memory of lives cut short and terrible sacrifices, I wanted to offer a luminous vision: that the souls may find peace, and that death may finally grant the long-awaited rest to the soldiers of all sides.

My intention was also to remind our generations of the magnitude of this sacrifice and of the privilege we have of living in freedom.

​

To express this, I turned to the past, in particular to the example of Fauré, whose Requiem offers a peaceful approach, without brilliance or outpouring, focused instead on the acceptance of rest.

Finally, the poem Heureux ceux qui sont morts by Charles Péguy may be read before the performance of the piece, as an echo of these words.
